puppy chow recipe

Today’s Easter-themed puppy chow recipe is one of my husband’s all-time favorite foods. Cheese, seafood, and puppy chow – and he’s a happy guy. One of the things I like about this recipe is that it can easily be changed to match the season, holiday, or really any theme you’re going for. As long as you have the colored M&Ms to match. Besides the M&Ms, there are four simple ingredients, and it comes together quickly.

Materials needed:

  • One gallon-sized Ziploc bag
  • Measuring cups
  • Microwaveable bowl

Ingredients:

  • Creamy peanut butter – have not yet tried it with natural peanut butter, but it should turn out the same
  • Chocolate chips – semisweet and milk chocolate work well
  • Powdered sugar
  • Chex cereal

To Make:

Start by adding the peanut butter and chocolate chips to a microwaveable bowl. Microwave at 30 second intervals. This is usually ready after 1 minute. Stir together until mixed well.

Add the Chex cereal to the Ziploc bag.

Pour one half of the peanut butter/chocolate mixture into the bag, seal, and shake well. Then add the rest of the mixture, seal the bag, and mix well again. You’ll want to make sure you coat the cereal at the bottom of the bag.

Add the two cups of powdered sugar to the bag. You can also split this up in 1 cup increments and shaking in between. Seal the bag and shake well until all cereal is coated.

Lastly, add the M&Ms to the bag and shake up until mixed throughout.

Hope you enjoy this recipe. Be sure to check out other recipes on the blog. This carrot cake recipe is also great for Easter celebrations.
